PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of repairing a structure which is capable of removing the crack arising in the structure or sealing the surface aperture of the crack and is capable of suppressing the reoccurrence of the crack in a repair weld zone by reducing the residual stress of tension in the surface section of the repair weld zone and a repair welding equipment. SOLUTION: The method of repairing the structure 1 which consists of an Fe-base alloy or Ni-base alloy and in which the open defect, such as stress corrosion crack, exists in the sensitized region of a weld heat affected zone has a first process step of forming a recessed part 8 by removing the whole of the open defect 4 or a region inclusive of a portion thereof, then forming a build-up weld layer 5 for packing the recessed part 8 and a second process step of subjecting the surface section (10) formed with the build-up weld layer 5 to a treatment to reduce the residual stress of tension.
