PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a phenanthrene derivative suitable for a blue organic luminescent material exhibiting strong luminescence, to provide a method for efficiently producing the derivative, to provide a synthetic intermediate for the derivative, to provide a method for producing the intermediate, and to provide an organic electroluminescent element using the phenanthrene derivative. SOLUTION: This phenanthrene derivative is such one as represented by the structural formula [1].
