PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To decompose efficiently under mild conditions a thermosetting resin such as an epoxy resin and the like into a reutilizable low- to medium-molecular weight compound. SOLUTION: A thermosetting resin is brought into contact with a high temperature steam of 250-600 deg.C, preferably 300-500 deg.C in the presence of a metallic compound catalyst to decompose thereby to give a reutilizable low- to medium- molecular weight compound.
