PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain miniaturization and reduction of thickness of the whole device in a light scattering type liquid crystal display device with an illuminator. SOLUTION: In the light scattering type liquid crystal display device wherein a transparent segment electrode 3 and a transparent common electrode 4 are formed on the inner surfaces of upper and lower glass substrates 1 and 2 disposed opposite to each other, respectively, and a light scattering type liquid crystal 5 is encapsulated therebetween, an LED 31 and a conduction pattern thereof are provided on the frame 2a1 of the glass substrate 2. Thereby, illumination of display by light emission of the LED integrally formed with the liquid crystal display device can be obtained and miniaturization and reduction of thickness can be attained.
