PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface decorative object capable of integrally molding a display article and a surface sheet without removing the printing of the display article in molding the display article having a three-dimensional feeling of a character, a pattern or the like provided thereto by printing, and a method for manufacturing the same. SOLUTION: The printing layer 2 of the display article 4 is applied to the back of the surface sheet 1 made of a synthetic resin having see-through properties and a molded sheet 3 made of a foamed synthetic resin is bonded to the rear of the surface sheet 1 through the printing layer 2. Thereafter, the inner peripheral part X in the contour Z of the display article 1 and the outer peripheral part Y in the contour of the display article are pressed to the surface sheet 1 from the surface thereof along the contour Z of the display article 1 by a press means 7 to crush the surface sheet 1.
