PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technical art pig rawhide which can maintain transparency and quality over a long period of time, is almost odorless, excels in hand processing, and also can be processed to a desired hardness or softness. SOLUTION: After unhairing and liming, the pig rawhide is subjected to reliming, and then successively subjected to the steps of: deliming/bating treatment; bleaching by an aqueous hydrogen peroxide solution; dipping in a mixed fluid of sulfuric acid and an organic acid in the presence of a salt; if necessary, rebleaching by sodium hypochlorite and hyposulfite; subsequently adjusting the pH to 3.0-4.5; adding 1%-1.5%, based on the weight of the rawhide, mixed fluid of glycerin and ethylene glycol at a ratio of 1:1 to 1:2 as softening agent; and then drying.
