PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pedometer with a lid in which step miscount does not occur. SOLUTION: This pedometer comprises a display part 3 for displaying the number of steps, the lid 2 capable of being closed and opened for covering the display part 3, a lid opening and closing switch 8 for detecting the open state of the lid 2, and a step counter 14 for nullifying counted steps while the lid 2 is open. It is possible to suppress increase in the number of steps due to vibrations which occur when a user opens the lid 2 and suppress increase in the number of steps due to factors except walking.
