PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing 3-formylfurans, capable of industrially advantageously producing a 3-formylfuran compound under a mild condition in a good yield. SOLUTION: This method for producing the 3-formylfurans comprises reducing a 3-furancarboxylic acid ester expressed by the general formula (I) with an aluminum hydride complex compound in the presence of a secondary amine so as to produce the 3-formylfuran compound expressed by the general formula (II) (R is an alkyl which may be substituted, an aryl which may be substituted or an aralkyl which may be substituted; R<1> , R<2> , and R<3> are each H, a halogen, an alkoxyl, an aryloxy, an alkylthio, an alkyl which may be substituted, an aryl which may be substituted or an aralkyl which may be substituted).
