PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a flame-retardant resin composition which is obtained by mixing a polyolefin-based resin with magnesium hydroxide and is not made to cause white spots on the surfaces of moldings in use. SOLUTION: Synthetic magnesium hydroxide synthesized from dolomite and natural brackish water as raw materials is used as the magnesium hydroxide. When the synthetic magnesium hydroxide having a specific particle size distribution is used, the flame-retardant resin composition has high hardness and improved damage resistance. When the synthetic magnesium hydroxide is subjected to surface treatment with a monoglyceride such as stearyl monoglyceride, and used, the flame-retardant resin composition has extremely excellent affinity for polymers and has high mechanical strength such as strength at break.
