PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a feeder capable of smoothly placing sheets on a sheet loading means and an image formation device provided with it. SOLUTION: An elevatable sheet loading means 3 is moved for loading a stack of sheets, to the 1st position where a stack of sheets can be loaded and, for the feeding of sheets, to the 2nd position where sheet can be fed by a sheet feeding means. Ribs 6 (lands and grooves) are provided on the sheet loading surface 3A of the sheet loading means 3, and they reduce the area of contact between the stack of sheets pushed in the specified direction and the sheet loading surface 3A after the loading of the stack of sheets on the sheet loading surface 3A. Furthermore, the ribs 6 (lands and grooves) are laid to extend approximately in parallel with the direction of the stack of sheets being pressed in, and this reduces resistance during sheet loading.
