<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a machine and a method for propelling a small bore pipe which enable easy and safe execution of a pipe jointing operation. SOLUTION: The machine 1 for propelling the small bore pipe is equipped with an expansion pipe 20 having a guide pipe 21 which is fitted between a leading body 10 and a propulsion pipe S and connected to the propulsion pipe S and a slide pipe 22 which is connected to the propulsion pipe S and also supported by the guide pipe 21 so that it can move forward and backward over a stroke corresponding to the full length of the propulsion pipe S. By using the machine, the propulsion pipes S in prescribed numbers are buried in the ground G by repeating a leading body propelling process wherein a subsequent casing 41 is connected to a casing 41 as the propulsion pipe S and that casing 41 is pushed by a propelling device 30 to make the expansion pipe 20 expand, with the propulsion pipe S left where it is, and to propel the leading body 10, while excavating the ground G, and a propulsion pipe propelling process wherein a subsequent propulsion pipe S is connected to the propulsion pipe S and that propulsion pipe S is pushed by the propelling device 30 to propel the propulsion pipe S, while making the expansion pipe 20 contract and retrocede.</p> |
