PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engaging device for a door guard, which takes earthquake resisting performance into consideration, prevents an engaging arm from unexpectedly moving when the door guard is not used, and rotates the engaging arm to a lockable position at which the engaging arm is automatically operated when the door guard is used. SOLUTION: According to the engaging device for the door guard, the engaging arm is inserted into an interval between upper and lower opposed bearing portions protruded from a washer mounted on a door such that upper and lower expanded base-side ends of the engaging arm are pivotally mounted on the opposed bearing portions, and a bearing spring is installed in a gap between one of the opposed bearing portions and one of the expanded base-side ends. The bearing spring has a stopping spring function and an activating spring function for energizing the engaging arm in two crossing directions, and when the door guard is not used, an engaging portion formed at the expanded base-side end of the engaging arm engages with an engaged portion at each opposed bearing portion by the stopping spring function of the engaging arm. On the other hand when the door guard is used, if the engaging portion is manually released from the engaged portion of the opposed bearing portion, the engaging arm is automatically rotated to a location at which a receiving rod on the door frame is inserted into an insertion space between the expanded base-side ends.
