PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical filter which has high transmittance for visible rays so as to selectively cut light rays at specified wavelengths generating in various kinds of displays without obstracting the color purity of the display. SOLUTION: The optical filter contains at least one kind of dipyrromethene metal chelate compound having the maximum absorption wavelength in the range from 440 nm to 510 nm in the base body. Since the optical filter contains the dipyrromethene metal chelate compound having the maximum absorption wavelength in the range from 440 nm to 510 nm wavelength in the base body, it efficiently blocks excess light near 480 nm generating in various kinds of displays and has excellent performance to accurately reproduce the green color in visible rays. By using the dipyrromethene metal chelate compound, optical filter is excellent in durability and easily formed and optical filters for displays can be manufactured by various methods.
