PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polymer manufacturing method usable for metathesis polymerization of norbornene monomers, applicable to various molding techniques and high in freedom in molding because of its capability for achieving stable polymerization in the air or in the presence of moisture or functional groups, and capable of producing a polymer high in glass transition temperature and excellent in mechanical properties after but a single stage of heating lasting for a short period of time. SOLUTION: By using the method, a polymerizable composition comprising a norbornene monomer and a trimeric or higher cyclopentane oligomer is polymerized in the presence of a ruthenium-based metathesis polymerization catalyst.
