PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a raw material rod for growing magnetic single crystals, which can obtain a YIG single crystal without deteriorating its magnetic properties since the controllability of the orientation of the single crystal is kept even when a growing rate is increase to prevent the increase of a magnetic resonance half-value width (ΔH), and to provide the magnetic single crystal. SOLUTION: The raw material rod for growing magnetic single crystal has a composition of (Y3-a Aa ) (Fe5-b-c Bb ) O12-d (wherein, A is at least one or more elements selected from lanthanoide series rare earths; B is at least one or more elements seiected from Ga, Al, In and Sc; (c) is a value reducing the composition of Fe than the stoichiometric compositional ratio,; and α is value reducing the compositional ratio of oxygen, and satisfying chemical neutral conditions; and 0<=a<=0.5, 0<=b<=1.0, 0<c<=0.15 and 0<α are satisfied). |
