PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cleaning and freshening device (1). SOLUTION: This device (1) is provided with a holder part (2), a bottle part (3) which is equipped with at least one liquid reservoir (4), and a liquid evaporator (6) which is kept in a state of liquid-communication with an activated liquid (F) housed in the liquid reservoir (4); the liquid evaporator (6) is housed in the holder part (2) in such a manner as to be located in a channel for water during the operation of the device (1); the holder part (2) is provided with a connecting nipple (7) to which an outflow opening (8) of the bottle part (3) can be connected; during the operation of the device (1), the outflow opening (8) is directed downward; and the holder (2) is provided with a clamping element (5) which can be inserted into an opening (24) of a basin part (23) of a Japanese toilet apparatus. Consequently, the device (1) can be used for the Japanese toilet apparatus.
