PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetostriction type load sensor that can be made small in size and light in weight and can be reduced in cost. SOLUTION: In this magnetostriction type load sensor 1 constituted by housing a coil 4 and a detection rod 2 arranged in the axial center of the coil 4 in a case 5, the case 5 is made of a sheet metal and one end of the detection rod 2 is held by the flat face of the case 5. Thus, one end face forming the flat face of the detection rod 2 requires no precise machining, and because the case 5 is made of inexpensive sheet metal, the load sensor 1 can be made compact and light in weight and the cost can be also reduced.
