PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hard to crack crucible for melting metal exhibiting good heating efficiency, excellent durability and low reactivity to a matter being melted. SOLUTION: Outer surface of a container 1 made of alumina or silicon nitride is coated with a metal film 7 of iron and/or nickel by plating. The metal film 7 is formed by sequentially laminating film layers 8 formed by plating after winding alumina winding fibers 10 in the circumferential direction of a container 1 wherein the number of turns of the winding fibers 10 in each film layer 8 laminated from the inside toward the outside is decreased sequentially.
