PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent cavitation from being caused in an absorbing solution pump and further prevent abnormal temperature rise and abnormal pressurization in a high temperature regenerator, by preventing internal pressure from being abruptly lowered in an evaporator due to abrupt condensation of high temperature refrigerant and controlling boiling of an absorbing solution, when the indoor unit side of an absorption cooler/heater is rapidly changed to a high load during heating operation. SOLUTION: Temperature of cold/hot water returning from an indoor terminal device into an evaporator 4 is detected during heating operation by a cold/ hot water return thermistor T as a load change detecting means. A temperature gradient per unit time (ΔT/Δt) is calculated for the temperature of the cold/hot water detected by the thermistor T. If the gradient reaches a specified value, the judgement that the indoor terminal device side is rapidly changed to a high load is made, and heating is suspended until heating by a gas burner B is started. In the case that heating has been started, heating is interrupted. Thus, abrupt condensation of the high temperature vapor is prevented from being caused in the evaporator 4 so that cavitation is prevented from being caused in the absorbing solution pump P1.
