PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a feeder capable of surely feeding the paper to a position where the paper can be held by delivery rollers, and preventing the paper jamming with a simple constitution. SOLUTION: This feeder comprises a paper feed tray 14 for loading the paper, the paper feed rollers 18 for feeding the paper from the paper feed tray 14 one by one, a pair of delivery rollers (not shown in Fig.) for delivering the fed paper, and a driving source (not shown in Fig.) for driving the paper feed rollers 18 and the delivery rollers, and the driving source rotates and drives the paper feed rollers 18 in paper feeding, and separates the paper feed roller 18 and drives the delivery rollers in paper delivering. This feeder comprises an abutting and separating means for closely abutting the paper feed tray 14 on the paper feed rollers 18 in paper feeding, and separating the paper feed tray 14 from the paper feed rollers 18 in paper delivering, and a rotating means 48 for further rotating the paper feed rollers 18 in the paper feeding direction in interlocking with the operation for separating the paper feed tray 14 from the paper feed rollers 18 by the abutting and separating means.
