PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrain fogging in a non-image part and to prevent stain of the recording material carrier due to adhesion of a developing agent on the fogging part to a recording material carrier in the area other than the recording material carrying area. SOLUTION: In an imaging apparatus for outputting a recording beam, scanning a recording area on a photosensitive member by the recording beam for forming an electrostatic latent image, developing and transferring the same, intensity control of the recording beam and synchronism control for scanning are executed by detecting the recording beam and comparing the beam intensity and a reference signal with each other. The recording beam has a bias part not contributing to imaging so that the beam output is stopped after detection of the recording beam in the area excluding at least the area corresponding to the recording material in the recording material conveying direction. In the area corresponding to the recording material, the recording beam is constituted of only the bias part in the area excluding the imaging area. |
