PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a welding method and equipment capable of stably forming weld beads of a fillet welding shape in the butt faces on the side opposite to a groove in welding from one side of a groove side. SOLUTION: In the welding method for butt welding a first base metal 1 and a second base metal 1, a welding wire 6 is disposed to face a groove weld zone where a root face 1a of the first base metal 1 formed with the root face 1a and the one side groove face 1b is touched to a flat face 2a of the second base metal 2. When the welding wire 6 is woven in the transverse direction of the groove, a change in the welding voltage value or current value within the time after the welding wire passes a contact position P1 of the end of the groove face 1b and the flat face 2a before the welding wire is oscillated to the first base metal 1 side and returns again to the contact position P1 with the time the welding wire 6 passes the contact position P1 as a base point is monitored and the aiming position of the welding wire 6 is moved in such a manner that the center of the weaving exists always in the adequate position.
