PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal gel, an optically anisotropic body, and a liquid crystal or optical element exhibiting various optical functions (e.g. a high refractive index anisotropy). SOLUTION: The liquid crystal gel is obtained by gelling a gel material containing at least one compound selected from among liquid crystalline compounds represented by formulas (1) to (4) [wherein A<01> -A<12> , R<11> , R<12> , A<13> -A<24> , A<25> -A<28> , R<31> , R<32> , A<39> -A<46> , R<41> , and R<42> are each H, F or the like; R<21> is H or the like; R<22> is F, -SF5 or the like; m and q are each 0 or 1; P<31> and P<32> are each a group represented by formula (3a) (wherein A<29> -A<34> are each H, F or the like) or the like; R<34> and R<44> are each a 1-12C alkyl or the like; and Z<41> is -C≡C- or the like]. The optically anisotropic body and the liquid crystal or optical element are equipped with the liquid crystal gel.
