PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a constant velocity universal joint capable of attaining weight reduction, slimness, and high ease of assembly of a stub shaft. SOLUTION: This constant velocity universal joint includes a cup-shaped large-diameter portion 47 formed with a plurality o9 linear track slots 39, a hollow small-diameter portion 48 formed integrally out of the enlarged diameter portion 47, an inner ring 34 formed, on its protruding spherical outer-periphery surface, with a plurality of linear track slots 38 facing the linear track slots 39 in an outer ring 35, a plurality of balls 36 housed in between the track slots 38 and 39 of the inner and outer rings to transmit torque, and a cage 37 which holds the balls 36 and is stored in a circular space between the inner and outer rings 34 and 35. A stub shaft 32 is inserted from the end of an opening of the enlarged diameter portion 25 on the outer ring 35. The shaft 40 is fitted to the inner ring 34 so that torque can be transmitted. A boot 33 which seals the inside of the joint is mounted at the end of the opening of the enlarged diameter portion 47 and the shaft 40 of the stub shaft 32. An end surface 55 at the back of the inner ring 34 can come into contact with a bottom surface 56 of the enlarged diameter portion 47 on the outer ring 35, when the shaft of the stub shaft 32 is pressed in.
