PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a differential device of a high freedom degree for moulding methods, a smaller number of part items, an easy assemblage, high assemblage precision, and low cost in which a pinion shaft can be prevented from coming off and rotating in simple structure. SOLUTION: A differential case 1, and an inner case 2 containing differential gears 4, 5, and 6 bevel-engaged in the differential case are rotatably disposed, and the differential case and the inner case 2 are composed to be detachably connectable in this differential device of a free running type. A key groove 9 in an axial direction opened sideways is cut in an inner circumferential surface of the inner case, and the pinion shaft 3 in a differential gear is installed to the key groove to be prevented from coming off and rotating. The pinion shaft 3 can thus be easily installed in the axial direction to the inner case 2.
