PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact, lightweight and low-cost complex driving system for a compressor capable of changing the discharge per unit time in a wide range without using an electromagnetic clutch or a transmission even with a small compressor of fixed discharge capacity while being able to drive also by electric power. SOLUTION: In the case of using an electric rotary machine 3 in which a motor and a generator can be both operated and a field part 6 as well as an armature part 18 can be rotated, and mounting a pulley 19 interlocked with an output shaft of a prime mover such as an internal combustion engine, to a rotating shaft 11 of the armature part 18, a driving shaft 2 of the compressor 1 is mounted to the rotating field part 6. When the electric rotary machine 3 is operated in a motor mode, the compressor 1 is acceleratedly driven by adding the rotating speed of the electric rotary machine 3 to the input rotating speed of the rotating shaft 11. When a feeder circuit is cut off, the compressor 1 stops. When the input rotating speed is too high, the electric rotary machine 3 is operated in a generator mode to a battery. A lowering of the rotating speed corresponding to the generated energy is thereby obtained.
