PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent damage, dirt and lost of an optical element by reducing manual handling of the optical element when grinding/polishing both front and rear faces of the optical element, and to surely eliminate pasting agent. SOLUTION: This working method is for successively grinding/polishing the front and rear faces of the optical element 1 in a state of the optical element 1 pasted on a pasting tray. The method has a process for pasting the rear face 1b of the optical element 1 on a first pasting tray 2 via first pasting agent 11, a process for grinding/polishing the front face 1a of the optical element 1 pasted on the first pasting tray 2, a process for pasting the front face 1a of the optical element 1 on a second pasting tray 3 via second pasting agent 15 different from the first pasting agent 11, a process for peeling pasting of the rear face 1b of the optical element 1 by the first pasting agent 11 and the first pasting tray 2, and a process for grinding/polishing the rear face 1b of the optical element 1 pasted on the second pasting tray 3.
