A system for facilitating movement of a polymer, comprising: a semiconductor device having a first end defining a first opening, a second end defining a second opening and a channel extending between the openings through which the polymer can pass; a first electrode positioned proximate to the first end; a second electrode positioned proximate to the second end; and a power source connected to the first and the second electrodes, the power source operable to provide a voltage to induce an electric field such that the polymer is caused to migrate through the channel.
