INTEGRATED OPTICAL WAVEGUIDE DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an integrated optical waveguide device with lower propagation loss while maintaining the integration and the miniaturization of the integrated optical waveguide device. SOLUTION: The integrated optical waveguide device is provided with a substrate 10 which consists of a material having an elctro-optic effect, and a plurality of optical waveguides 11 and 12 formed on the substrate. The emission port and the incident port of either of the optical waveguides are formed on at least one end surface of the substrate 10. An optical device 30 is formed near the one end surface so as to introduce light emitted from the emission port in the incident port. The refractive indexes of dielectrics 20 surrounding the optical waveguides in the vicinity of the end part of the emission port side of the optical waveguides where the emission port is formed are set to be almost equivalent.
