PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for manufacturing a color filter based on an ink jet system corresponding to the increase of the screen of a color liquid crystal display and the increase of a definition. SOLUTION: A plurality of ink jet heads are used for each color. The reference plane of the head is machined and attached to an attaching member so as to locate each head nozzle at a prescribed location. A head unit is formed by arraying a plurality of attaching members. The positioning of each ink jet head in the nozzle column direction of the ink jet heads is carried out in each attaching member.
