PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a loading method and a loading device, capable of loading a rolling element into a retainer, at a low cost and in short time. SOLUTION: This loading device comprises a support member 30 constituted of a stepped-shape member including a fitting part 32 fitted into the holder 100 and a large-diameter part 31, a guide member 20 provided with a fitting hole 23 for inserting and fitting the large-diameter part 31 of the support member 30, retaining means 50, 55, 58, 59 for retaining the supporting member 30 so as to move vertically, a base 10, locating means 36, 53, 57, 54, 55, 58 for locating the support member and the guide member, an energizing means 60 for energizing the support member 30 upward, and a retaining member 40 provided on the top of the retainer 100 supported by the support member 30, so as to be brought into contact with it. On the large-diameter part 31 of the support member 30, a retaining hole 33 corresponding to a pocket part of the retainer 100 is formed, and on the guide member 20, an interference avoidance hole 24 is formed at at least one position, corresponding to that of the retaining hole 33.
