PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the length from the front wheel to the front end of a machine in a riding type work machine with an engine and a continuously variable transmission arranged at the front of the machine. SOLUTION: The continuously variable transmission 11 is connected to a front part of a mission case 1 so that an input shaft 11a of the continuously variable transmission 11 is located at the front of an output shaft 11b. A cylinder 16b is tilted rearward so that the cylinder 16b goes along the upper side of the continuously variable transmission 11, and the engine 16 is arranged at the diagonally upper front of the continuously variable transmission 11. An output shaft 16c of the engine 16 is protruded to the same side as the input shaft 11a of the continuously variable transmission 11, and a transmission mechanism 19 is extended over the output shaft 16c of the engine 16 and the input shaft 11a of the continuously variable transmission 11.
