PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a large ink-jet recorder in which nozzles of a plurality of recording heads arranged in a horizontal scanning direction and a vertical scanning direction can be surely inspected in a short time. SOLUTION: The plurality of recording heads 6 for discharging ink drops to a recording medium are arranged both in a movement direction and in a direction orthogonal to the direction, which are loaded to a carriage 1 and move back and forth in a widthwise direction of the recording medium. A nozzle inspection part 17 for inspecting a discharge state of nozzles of the recording heads is set to at least one outside of a recording region in the width direction of the recording medium. Since nozzles can be inspected when the carriage moves back and forth, an inspection time for nozzles can be shortened even if the number of nozzles in the horizontal scanning direction increases.
