The backlight is provided with a plurality of components comprising a light transmission plate CLB and a light source CFL to which light is introduced from the side wall surface of the light transmission plate. The light irradiation from each backlight to the liquid crystal display part is applied in each divided region of the liquid crystal display part, and each backlight is successively turned on.
