PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a side corridor type multiple dwelling house with little adverse effect of the drainage gradient of a horizontally drawing drain pipe wherever kitchen and sanitary spaces are arranged in a dwelling unit, while being economical. SOLUTION: In this side corridor type multiple dwelling house, a common corridor 3 is constructed on one side of a group of dwelling units 2 partitioned by a door boundary wall 1, and a balcony 4 is constructed on the opposite side. Pipe spaces 12a, 12b exclusively used for common vertical drain pipes are provided in the nearly middle position between a column 11a and a column 11a on the common corridor side and in the nearly middle position between a column 11b and a column 11b on the balcony side. Fixtures close to the common corridor 3 out of the kitchen and sanitary spaces such as a kitchen, a bathroom, a washing and dressing table and a place for a washing machine in the dwelling unit are connected to a common vertical drain pipe 13a installed in the common corridor side pipe space 12a by a horizontally drawing drain pipe 14a, and fixtures close to the balcony 4 are connected to a common vertical drain pipe 13b installed in the balcony side pipe space 12b by another horizontally drawing drain pipe 14b.
