PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simply form a double bond without activating hydroxyl group, introducing a halogen atom and so forth and avoid a reaction reagent having problems relating to be wasted. SOLUTION: 2,3-dideoxy-2,3-dehydropentofuranose is obtained by reacting 2-deoxy-pentofuranose with 2-difluoro-1,3-dimethyl-imidazzolidine or 2,2- difluoro-1,3-dimethyl-3,4,5,6-tetrahydro-pyrimidine. This method does not require to activate hydroxyl group, introduce a halogen atom and so forth and can introduce a double bond by solely one reaction, thus the method is simple. The method is suitable for industrial productions since a transition metal or the like which causes disposal problems is not used.
