PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a toothbrush which reduces the danger of an injury induced by excessive insertion of the toothbrush into each of the oral cavity or the pharyngeal cavity and to provide an obstructing segment which may be used by being connected to the toothbrush in order to restrict the insertion of the toothbrush into the oral cavity or the pharyngeal cavity. SOLUTION: The handle 3 of the toothbrush of the type provided with the handle 3 including a gripping region 4 and a connecting region 5 and a bristle head 6 coupled to the connecting region 5 has the obstructing section 2. The obstructing section 2 is arranged apart a spacing from the bristle head 6, extends at least nearly perpendicularly to the longitudinal axis of the toothbrush 1 and is so disposed as to restrict the insertion of the toothbrush 1 into the oral cavity.
