PURPOSE: An apparatus for manufacturing optical fiber preforms(soots), being applicable to vapor axial deposition(VAD) and outside vapor deposition(OVD) method, is provided to shorten deposition time and produce smooth-surfaced soots by coming and going two or more burners in order during deposition of SiO2. CONSTITUTION: The apparatus for manufacturing optical fiber preforms, soots(3), is characterized in that the two or more of burners move along up/down and left/right directions of the core at a different velocity in case of vertical OVD and horizontal OVD, respectively. Accordingly, the moving burners(4) deposit SiO2 around the core homogeneously for production of smooth-surfaced soots with no wrinkles, and shorten deposition time by 40-60%. |
