PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a detector for blood vessels which enables not only carrying thereof readily but also accurate visual recognition of the positions of blood vessels of human bodies or animals regardless of the presence of commercial power sources. SOLUTION: The detector 10 for blood vessels K is so arranged as to visually recognize the blood vessels K by watching the reflected light of the light which is made to irradiate the surface of skin S and transmit muscles I. There are provided a light shielding cylinder 20 which is made up of a skin contact part so formed on the tip side thereof as to be brought into contact with the skin S and an eyepiece part formed on the base end side thereof and a light emitting member 30 which is disposed about the light shielding cylinder 20 to irradiate the skin S with light.
