A process for the purification of hydrofluoric acid from highly volatile impurities such as sulphur dioxide and fluorosilicic acid is characterized by the addition of an incondensable inert carrier gas during the removal of said impurities by distillation under pressure. Inert gases specified are air and oxygen. The inert gas may be introduced between the distillation column head and a reflex condenser, or directly into the distillation column. |
