PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the efficiency and easiness of the harvesting work of a large amount of onions while reducing the labor, conserving the environment, and protecting the onion. SOLUTION: The leaf and stalk of an onion is cut at a 1st leaf and stalk cutting parts S1, S2, S3, the onions are classified into onions free from the leaf and stalk, cut leaves and stalks, onions failed in cutting the leaf and stalk and off-grade onions to be conveyed. The onions free from the leaf and stalk, the cut leaves and stalks, the onions failed in cutting the leaf and stalk, and the off-grade onions are transferred to an onion holding part A, a discharging part A3, a 2nd leaf and stalk cutting part A2, and an off-grade onion holding part A1, respectively. The leaf and stalk of the onion failed in cutting the leaf and stalk are cut at the 2nd leaf and stalk cutting part A2, and the onion free from leaf and stalk and the cut leaf and stalk are separately transferred to the onion holding part A and the discharging part A3, respectively. The dust generated in the cutting of the leaf and stalk in the 1st leaf and stalk cutting parts S1, S2, S3 is collected.
