PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of cleaning a weakly acidic cation exchange resin which efficiency removes a THM from potable water. SOLUTION: The method of cleaning the weakly acidic cation exchange resin includes exchanging the weakly acidic cation exchange resin of a substantially neutral salt type to a hydrogen type weakly acidic cation exchange resin by regenerating the resin with an acid regenerating agent; and bringing the hydrogen type weakly acidic cation exchange resin into contact with steam of 1 to 15 kilograms per kilogram of the hydrogen type weakly acidic cation exchange resin for the time of at least one hour at a resin bed temperature from 100 to 180 deg.C.
