PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a peeling apparatus for farm crops to surely and smoothly perform the work for separating the unnecessary or inedible surface skin of a farm crop. SOLUTION: A Welsh onion A placed on a holding table 3 of a transfer conveyor 2 is lifted to a prescribed height with a holding unit 11 and a supporting unit 20 constituting a lifting apparatus 10 and supported with supporting arms 36, 36 of a skinning unit 31 constituting a surface skin separating apparatus 30. Air G ejected from ejection nozzles 37a, 37b is nearly uniformly blown against the outer surface of the stalk Ab of the onion while straightening the bent part of the stalk Ab with the supporting arms 36, 36. The holding unit 11 is horizontally oscillated according to the curve of the Welsh onion A to separate the unnecessary surface skin Ae.
