PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a scum removing method by which excessive scum removing movement is prevented to eliminate the swallowing of undesired water and to simplify succeeding treatment. SOLUTION: In the scum removing method performed by scraping the scum on the water surface to the front of a recovering means by the circulation movement or a reciprocal movement of a scum scraping member and recovering the scraped scum by forming the recovering means operated by a driving means in an induction condition, the start of the operation is linked with the driving means of the recovering means by detecting a prescribed timing to scrap the scum to the front of the recovering means from the movement of the scum scraping member and the driving means is controlled to be turned-on only at a specific time in a fixed time band.
