PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet for an absorptive article which is hardly kinked and wrinkled, is bulky and has a feel of cushion. SOLUTION: This sheet 1 for the absorptive article consists of a fiber assemblage of a single layer which is composed mainly of latent crimpable fibers of a crimped state and is scattered with a multiplicity of embossed portions 2 in discontinuous patterns. Expansion and contraction regions 3 which are bulky and exhibit stretchability and consolidated non-expansion and contraction regions 4 including the embossed portions 2 exist alternately in at least one direction within the plane of the sheet 1 and have the stretchability in at least the above direction.
