PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an effective deodorant composition of a high deodorization effect of so-called sulfur-base malodors essentially consisting of compound containing sulfur elements, such as hydrogen sulfide, and further to provide a deodorant composition effective for combined malodors mingled with several kinds or more of malodorous components containing sulfur-base malodorous components. SOLUTION: This deodorant composition is a deodorant composition consisting of a particulate zinc oxide having a specific surface area within a range of 40 to 100 m<2> /g, a hydrogen sulfide volume of >=3.0 mmol/g and a primary particle size of <=0.2μm and further contains at least one material selected from the group consisting of a material carrying a compound having a primary amino group in the molecule, quaternary metal phosphate and hydrated zirconium oxide and the particulate zinc oxide.
