PURPOSE: A bumper for a vehicle is provided to absorb preferably an impact owing to a collision of the vehicle with the vehicle and at the same time to reduce an injury of a walker due to a collision of the vehicle with a human. CONSTITUTION: A bumper for a vehicle comprises a bumper beam(1), a bumper cover(2), a supporting bar(3), an operating lever(8), the first and second levers(12,13), the third levers(16,17), a vertical rod(19), and a locker(21). The lever supporting bar(3) connected at a coil spring(5) is fixed at the bumper beam(1), and supports an impact-sensing lever(7). A central portion of the operating bar(8) is supported at the bumper beam and forms an operating portion(9) and the first and second stopper(10,11). The operating portion is contacted at the impact-sensing lever. The first and second levers are supported at the bumper beam and bumper cover, and the other ends of the first and second levers are connected each other. A pressing spring(15) is connected between the first and second levers. The third levers are connected at the first and second levers respectively, and the other ends thereof are connected by a pin(18). The vertical rod is connected vertically at the pin and connected at a pressing spring(20) fixed at the bumper beam. The locker is supported at the third levers. One end of the locker is latched at the first latch, and the other end of the locker locks the supporting bar.
