PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive base material for a vegetation culture medium, produced by using an environmentally friendly culture medium raw material, excellent in moisture retention, water permeability, fertilizer retentive property, air permeability, and the like, each suitable for plant vegetation, and having a PH soil environment suitable for plant vegetation, and to provide a greening method, making it possible to effectively vegetate plants on a slope, vertical surface, horizontal surface, or the like, found here and there in the natural environment, life area, or the like, by using a product wherein a vegetation culture medium mold excellent in water resistance and shape retention, and various kinds of blocks are integrated. SOLUTION: The base material for vegetation culture medium contains reinforced aggregated material granules premixed with 50-200 pts.wt. of clay-system mineral granules and 25-150 pts.wt. of hydraulically aggregated material based on 100 wt.% of carbide granules, 25-150 pts.wt. of wood chip materials, 5-50 pts.wt. of a natural and/or synthetic fibrous member, and 0.5-25 pts.wt. of a water retaining material as main formulating materials for the culture medium. The vegetation culture medium mold is obtained by shaping the base material, and the greening method comprises the step of using the vegetation culture medium mold.
