PURPOSE: Provided is a natural liquid crystal composition prepared by adding β-glucan to the basic skeletal structure of liquid crystals containing ceramide, cholesterol, lecithin, fatty acid and oil which have the same structure as that of skin lipid. Therefore, a cosmetic composition containing the natural liquid crystal composition has excellent skin compatibility, skin protection and improved liquid crystal stability. CONSTITUTION: The natural liquid crystal composition contains 0.1 to 10% by weight of ceramide, 0.1 to 10% by weight of cholesterol, 0.1 to 5.0% by weight of lecithin, 0.5 to 5.0% by weight of fatty acid and 0.1 to 50% by weight of oil and 0.01 to 10% by weight of β-glucan, based on the total weight of the composition. The ceramide is one or more components selected from ceramide 1, ceramide 2, ceramide 3, ceramide 4, ceramide 5 and ceramide 6II which are represented by the formulae(1,2,3,4,5 and 6) respectively and the fatty acid is one or more components selected from the group consisting of C6-28 saturated and unsaturated fatty acid.
