PURPOSE: A screen electrode for a CRT electron gun and an electron gun having the same are provided to achieve improved resolution in the peripheral portion of the screen by reducing horizontal electron beam size and overall size of electron beam spot. CONSTITUTION: A CRT electron gun comprises cathodes(10), a control electrode(20) and a screen electrode(30) which are arranged in a line, and each electrode has three electron beam passing holes(20a,30a,40) corresponding to three cathodes(10). The electron beam passing hole of the screen electrode has a vertically elongated lead-in portion(30b) and a horizontally elongated lead-in portion(30c) which are sequentially formed in the electron beam advance direction of the electron beam passing hole.
